What is the difference between waterproof and water repellent? |
“Waterproofing” refers to adding a physical barrier to prevent water entering a product. ion-mask™ on the other hand works on a molecular level to stop materials absorbing water. This means your shoes stay dry, lightweight and breathable. If the design of the footwear has large gaps or holes, water may enter the shoe – though won’t be absorbed into the material. |

So why bother with ion-mask™? |
If you’re going to a festival in the mud, then we would suggest you bring some Wellies! But if you’re going for a run or exercising in your shoes, you’re going to need ion-mask™. In order to keep comfortable as your feet heat up during exercise, you need a way to maintain the microclimate between your foot and the shoe. If you have a physical barrier to stop water getting in, you are also restricting airflow, and not allowing the moisture from your foot to escape. Many companies claim “breathability” but ion-mask™ is the only truly breathable option - at 1000 times thinner than a human hair, it does not affect the look, feel, or fiber size of the shoe. |

Than why do I need it on my winter gloves? |
In order to keep snug and warm, insulation traps a layer of dry air in the glove. If this air is moist or damp it no longer insulates effectively. By keeping your insulation dry, ion-mask™ keeps your hands warm. |

Do I need to reapply ion-mask™? |
ion-mask™ is not a spray or dip process. Instead, low-energy polymer chains are generated on the surface of products at the molecular level. These chains are permanently bonded to the surface through covalent bonds. ion-mask™ is applied prior to purchase, and does not need to be re-applied, so you can get moving and stay moving! |

Is it environmental? |
ion-mask™ is the environmentally friendly liquid repellent. The process occurs in a sealed chamber at room temperatures using minute amounts of chemicals; no solvents or water is used. There is no energy required for drying or curing and the whole process creates negligible waste. The coating does not affect the recyclability of the product. |
