P2i first company to win Best of Show two years running at AudiologyNOW!
April 5, 2012
Shannon Kelley, Director of Industry Services, American Academy of Audiology, comments: “AudiologyNOW! 2012 is pleased to announce that P2i won our Best of Show for Medium-Large Booth for the second year in a row! Voting for Best in show is done by our attendees who judge on creativity, imagination, innovation and originality in the design of their exhibit space. P2i displayed all of these characteristics in their booth design.
P2i’s distinctive open-plan booth retained the crisp, clean design of 2011, while the introduction of more demonstration stations with video screens provided an opportunity for Audiologists to have exclusive face-time with P2i staff to explore the science behind the Aridion™ technology.
P2i’s Head of Marketing, Ellen Zimmer, comments: “We are delighted to be the first company in our category to receive the Best of Show award at AudiologyNOW! twice. It is real validation that by combining a striking booth with strong interactive elements we can provide an experience that is both interesting and memorable for show attendees. It helps that the Aridion™ nano-coating is an exciting technology to demonstrate and everyone is aware of the huge impact it has made on the Hearing Aid market over the past few years.”
Aridion™ transforms conventional levels of reliability, substantially reducing warranty failure and repair costs, and ultimately increasing user confidence. P2i provides a range of nano-coating systems including the Aridion™ 8 for specialty items and smaller volumes, with the 40 liter system catering for mainstream manufacturing. Aridion™ is applied to approximately 60% of the global production of hearing aids, protecting devices from the corrosive effects of liquids, moisture and sweat.
What is Aridion™?
Aridion™ is P2i’s revolutionary liquid repellent nano-coating for Electronics. It provides unbeatable protection against corrosion damage, reducing warranty failure and repair costs and ultimately increasing user confidence.
Aridion™ is applied using a special pulsed ionized gas (plasma), which is created within a vacuum chamber, to attach a nanoscopic polymer layer – one thousand times thinner than a human hair – to the hearing aid. This dramatically lowers the product's surface energy, so that when humidity, sweat or oleos substances come into contact with it, they form beads and simply roll off.
Plus, because Aridion™ can coat every aspect of a finished product at the nanoscopic level, it protects much more thoroughly than alternative approaches where individual product components are treated prior to assembly. The result is a truly durable liquid repellent coating that does not affect the product's look, feel or delicate acoustic properties.
P2i is the world leader in liquid repellent nano-coating technology. It was established in 2004 to commercialize liquid-repellent treatments developed by the UK’s Ministry of Defence. Now on a commercial scale, P2i’s patented process has been successfully applied to a wide range of products in a wide range of markets including Lifestyle, Electronics, Life Sciences, Military & Institutional and Filtration & Energy.
In consumer sectors, the presence of P2i’s technology is indicated either by ion-mask™, its brand for Lifestyle (including footwear and accessories), or Aridion™, its brand for Electronics. See www.p2i.com for more information.
