Patrick Keeley promoted to Vice President of Electronics as P2i ramps up global presence
May 7, 2012
ABINGDON, U.K., NEW ORLEANS, USA, 7 May 2012: P2i, the world leader in liquid repellent nano-coating technology, today announced that it has promoted Patrick Keeley to Vice President of Electronics in a move which reflects the global expansion of P2i within the sector.
Patrick joined the company a year ago as P2i’s Business Unit Director for Electronics. Subsequently he has overseen the launch of Aridion™ into high volume manufacturing. Aridion™ protects electronic devices, such as smartphones and tablets, from the effects of corrosion and water damage, dramatically increasing their reliability. As a result, P2i has extended its outreach to tens of millions of electronic devices worldwide.
With a degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, Patrick came to P2i after 10 years at Marvell Semiconductor where he triumphed hundreds of millions of dollars in new product design wins - including some of the company's first wins in the mobile phone market. Previously Patrick worked in Engineering, Marketing and Sales management at Galileo Technology, IDT and Intel.
Eric Cohill, Chief Commercial Officer, P2i comments: “Pat’s expertise in opening new markets, with specific focus on complex original equipment and design manufacturer opportunities, coupled with his great track record of increasing sales revenues, has made him a driving force for P2i’s expansion in the Electronics sector. Pat has generated new customer relations which will lead to continued growth in commercial product availability and has shown great passion for our unrivalled award-winning technology that is unbeaten within the industry”.
Patrick Keeley, VP – Electronics, P2i comments: “P2i is a fantastic innovative company which is commercially successful in many sectors through global brands such as GN Resound, Timberland and K-Swiss. It is this diversity, and proven track record, which has attracted the attention of global electronics brands. It is the reason why we are the only proven viable liquid-repellent nano-coating solution available in the market today.”
Continued investment in new market potential and ongoing commitment to worldwide customers means P2i is recruiting heavily with over 60 vacancies open within its UK, US and Asia offices. As the global reach of P2i’s customer base expands, so too does the coverage of the nano-coating system installations, the most recent having gone to Brazil and Argentina. In fact, with over 100 nano-coating systems worldwide, P2i has installations in countries as far afield as China, India and Australia.
P2i first entered the Electronics sector through the hearing aid market in 2008. In just three years, P2i has revolutionized this market working with top brands such as GN Resound and is now protecting approximated 60% of the world’s behind-the-ear devices.
Jennifer Carlson, Product Manager, ReSound US comments: “We are extremely pleased with the results of P2i’s nano-coating. Over a substantial period of time, ReSound has been able to validate a significant reduction in moisture related failures. ReSound and our customers have greater confidence in the reliability of our product, knowing our world class product is protected from the environment by a world class process.”
Brian Tsuchiya, VP – Operations, ReSound US comments: “For hearing instruments, corrosion of sensitive electronics is a significant concern, however, with P2i’s nano-coating process, ReSound and their customers have experienced a significant reduction in failure rates and service costs.”
P2i works with leading brands to apply a nano-coating, 1000 times thinner than a human hair, to products reducing their surface energy so when liquids come into contact with it they simply bead up. For electronics, this means a dramatic increase in the reliability of devices, protecting them from water and corrosion damage.
Unlike other emerging technologies, P2i has a proven track record of commercial success in the Electronics sector, and is the only company who has validated a high volume liquid repellent solution for smartphones with a global electronics brand.

What is Aridion™?
Aridion™ is P2i’s revolutionary liquid repellent nano-coating for Electronics. Aridion™ is applied using a special pulsed ionized gas (plasma), which is created within a vacuum chamber, to attach a nanoscopic polymer layer – one thousand times thinner than a human hair – to the electronic device. This dramatically lowers the product's surface energy, so that when liquids or moisture come into contact with it they are repelled from the surface instead of wetting.
Plus, because Aridion™ can coat every aspect of a finished product at the nanoscopic level, it protects much more thoroughly than alternative approaches where individual product components are treated prior to assembly. The result is a truly durable liquid repellent coating that does not affect the product's look, feel or delicate acoustic properties.
